Open to the Public - Next board meeting: The Sourdough Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for the third Monday of every month and starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Sourdough fire station. Notices are posted at the Station, published on this website, and in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle. The Sourdough Fire Station is located at 4541 South Third Avenue, just south of Goldenstein Lane. The phone number is 587-8887. For emergencies dial 911.

Duties of Trustees of Sourdough Fire District:

The five trustees are elected by registered voters living within the fire district, or by landowners who present proof of such to the Gallatin Co. Elections Office. They are responsible by statute for making sure there is “adequate and standard firefighting and emergency response apparatus, equipment, personnel, housing, and facilities, including real property and emergency medical services, for the protection of the district”.

The trustees receive no salary for their duties. They serve a 3 year term that has no term limits. The five trustees serve staggered terms. They approve the annual budget. They set the goals. They monitor to see that the fire chief is making progress in meeting those goals in a satisfactory manner. 
 

The SFD responded to more than 400 incidents each year including: home and grass fires, medical emergencies, traffic accidents, and hazardous materials incidents. SFD is a visible and active part of the community, providing fire safety information to citizens and area school children and "patrolling" neighborhoods on busy nights such as Halloween.
